If this bill that the U.S. Senate will soon vote on passes, then you can expect to see your energy bills skyrocket. It has been said that this “cap-and-tax” legislation will cause electricity rates to increase 90% by 2035.
The supposed reason for such a tax hike is to reduce Global Warming or Climate Change. Those who support a “cap-and-tax” policy resulting in huge energy tax hikes believe that man is causing the earth to warm and cool.
Over time earth has experienced numerous warming and cooling cycles, and the current warming trend is not outside the natural and historical trend of climate change. What this means is that there is no proof that man is causing the earth to warm. What we are seeing is a natural change in the earth’s climate, and any effect mankind may have on this recent warming pattern is negligible at best.
Thus, any tax hike to reduce CO2 emmissions via “cap-and-tax” to eliminate Climate Change will be futile and will waste more tax dollars in the process.
The U.S. House of Representatives just passed this bill, and it will soon come before the Senate for a vote. Please call and tell your Senator to VOTE NO on HR 2454.
